Festival Management

Cristina Uruc manages, together with her team at Artexim, the organization of the George Enescu International Festival. She joined the wonderful world of concerts, cultural events and shows 16 years ago, experiencing since than all stages of production and organization of one the biggest classical music festivals in the world. Her life was marked by the classical music being herself a music composer. Her composition portfolio includes works for chamber ensembles, solo instruments, pieces for orchestra and a clarinet concerto, being awarded numerous prizes in Romania and abroad for her work.

Cristina believes that George Enescu International Festival stands out as one of the most diverse and intense musical experiences, bringing its audience a diverse repertory and a complex musical experience.

Cristian Măcelaru is newly appointed as Artistic Director of the George Enescu International Festival. He is a proud winner of a Grammy® Award together with violinist Nicola Benedetti for Best Classical Instrument Solo, for conducting the Decca Classics recording of Wynton Marsalis` Violin Concerto with Philadelphia Orchestra.

Music had a major impact over his profession, being the youngest concertmaster in the history of the Miami Symphony Orchestra and made his Carnegie Hall debut with that orchestra at just 19 years old. He also played in the first violin section of the Houston Symphony for two seasons. But the great results come with greater dedication, saying what George Enescu admitted himself: in art, in general, and in music in particular, 5% is talent the rest is hard work.

Conductor Cristian Măcelaru is Music Director of the Orchestre National de France, Chief Conductor of the WDR Sinfonieorchester and Principal Conductor of the Interlochen Center for the Arts ‘World Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Music Director Conductor of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music.

This year the Artistic Director Cristian Măcelaru brings an absolute premiere of the Enescu Festival– the series of educational concerts dedicated to children, made in partnership with the Odeon Theater in Bucharest and the Classic is Fantastic Association.

Cristian Măcelaru will conduct the George Enescu opening Concert, on August 27 at 7:30 PM, at Grand Palace Hall.
